"Big Wave"
The Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi History Museum, within the framework of the project "Gallery of Contemporary Art", presents Vladimer (Valo) Imerlishvili's project "Big Wave".
Valo Imerlishvili's functional sculpture "The Great Vibration" as an installation was created to be exhibited in the exhibition space of the Tbilisi History Museum. The three-meter artefact presented with two wooden horses is dedicated to an artistic study of the essential features of the West and the East. These two types of Georgian consciousness are also explained by the distinctive geographical location of Georgia. For many centuries, being at a geographical crossroads has always been a tragedy - when we separated from the East and did not become a part of the West.
These two archetypal "creatures" are visually almost identical. They complement each other and condition each other's existence. The "threat of one-sidedness" of each of them will be overcome with the help of the other. Its aesthetics are reminiscent of "the Egyptian Sphinx and the Parisian Chimera." Among them is an iron swing. The swing unites the poles, it swings and shakes. The work, expressed in the influence of natural colors and different materials, carries the idea of contradictions, great fluctuations and balance between civilizations.
Valo Imerlishvili graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, specializing in sculpture. Participated in numerous international exhibitions. He is the author of many projects implemented in Georgia and Eastern Europe: 2018/2019. - Sculptural objects in the urban space / "Your house on Jikia street", Tbilisi, Georgia. 2018 - In 1923, a memorial to the shot patriots in Vake Park.
